What can I say about myself? Well, I guess I will start by saying I was born in London, England and lived there for most of my life. But I have also lived in Cambridgeshire and in Cornwall, both counties in England.
I am not married, but I was for a short time. (A long and strange story) I have no children but I do love kids. I get along fine with children of all ages. There are children that live near me that come and ask me to play with them sometimes and I do when I have time. Sometimes just to kick a ball around or throw a Frisbee.
I now live in Australia since 1997 after living in New Zealand from 1989.
I had my own business as a painter and decorator. I had four employees but due to an accident I had to sell the business.
I guess I had a pretty happy childhood even though my parents were poor. I did not have much schooling (just about six years of schooling between the ages of ten and sixteen), but I do consider myself as fortunate that I have taught myself most things.
Now, for the things I like to do. I love surfing. I go surfing whenever I can find the time to do so. This is pretty often as I live just 15 minutes from the sea. Naturally, because of this, I also like swimming. I enjoy walking but not hiking. I love to stroll along the beach or walk along the cliff-tops just enjoying the beauty around me. I like peace and solitude at times and this gives me the opportunity to unwind.
I also like driving and will often just get in my car and drive. When I do this, I do not have a plan in mind of where I will go. I like to take roads that I have never been along and see where I will end up. If I am too far from home to return that day, then I will stay at a motel or hotel and return the following day. At these times, I usually find the time to think over any problems I may have and often find that I can solve the problems when I return.
I am a loner by choice, but I make friends easily. I find I can talk to most people at any time and leave as friends. I just do not wish to have "close" friends of my own sex. I decided to be a loner when I was a teenager because I did not wish to go along with the crowd. I felt I was losing my individuality by allowing myself to be influenced by my peers.
Creative writing is another pleasure I enjoy. I love writing poetry; most of these are of the romantic kind as I am a romantic myself. I do write other kinds as well but not so often. I also love to write short stories with a twist at the end. I have several novels in the process of being written. These are mainly sci-fi but I do have a romance in the making.
I like most kinds of music except heavy metal and rap. My preference is soft and soothing laid back music. I do like soft rock and I also like rock and roll. Some classics I like but not all that many.
Things I do not like. Hmmm. This is difficult! There is not much that I don't like. I do not like treading on something that should definitely not be on the pavement or sidewalk! I do not like arrogant people or those that cannot admit to their own failings.
I do not like the way many countries are at war and the innocent are suffering as a result. I do not like the way the environment is being destroyed by greed. I do believe that there is no need for the destruction of our earth and we can all live without the harmful affects of some of the technologies that are being used today. I am not an active environmentalist though. I do not believe that groups of individuals can halt the governments of the world in their greed for land, and the resources of the earth.
My vices? I smoke! Yes, I know. I've heard all about the dangers to health. However, I do not drink. Or rather, I am not a habitual drinker. I will partake in a beer now and then or a glass of wine.
I am also a flirt! Harmless but fun. I also like having women flirt with me.
